CSS, a Swiss health insurer, wanted to revamp its customer portal, setting a new standard in customer experience and consolidating its position as a digital pioneer in the industry.

The existing portal, used by nearly 1 million policyholders via web and mobile app, would be upgraded with expanded functionality, a refreshed design, revamped architecture, and a modernised technical foundation—further extending CSS’s lead over competitors.

The insurer selected Zühlke as its technology partner to support the development of the new customer portal and maintain the existing one throughout the transition period.

Working collaboratively with CSS’s internal development team, our front-end and back-end specialists implemented a modern new structure.

The new UI/UX concept was transformed into a high-quality, cross-platform application through an agile Scrum process and a DevOps mindset.

Constant dialogue with technical and infrastructure departments enabled navigation through the complex domain, allowing for rapid improvements and adjustments.

Ongoing testing by representatives from the development and technical departments ensured a stable, premium product.

A 24/7 portal serving nearly 1.6 Million insured individuals

The new customer portal will be accessible 24/7 to all 1.6 million policyholders via web browsers and a mobile app.

To best serve the customers, we made sure the content is relevant and personalised, with a user interface that is clear and seamless to navigate. For example, statements are always easy to find, invoices can be submitted digitally, and there is clear information about included benefits.

Thanks to a holistic login process, access to the customer portal and other health insurance services is tightly controlled.

With the successful launch of the new portal, CSS is further consolidating its position as a digital pioneer in the industry. The mobile app "myCSS," co-developed by Zühlke, deservedly wins the prestigious "Best of Swiss Web Apps" award in November 2024.
