Global Research Platforms and Zühlke are fighting Alzheimer's disease

Global Research Platforms is leading the way in Alzheimer’s research, tackling the significant challenges in early detection and treatment of this devastating disease. Through collaboration with us, they aimed to reduce barriers to data access, foster collaboration, and ultimately accelerate research into Alzheimer’s Disease.

Tackling barriers in Alzheimer’s research

Alzheimer's disease poses a growing global challenge, affecting over 55 million people worldwide. With the increasing number of cases, the demand for innovative research methods and early detection tools is more critical than ever.

Global Research Platforms, deeply invested in global health initiatives, recognised several barriers impeding Alzheimer’s research progress. The Anti-Amyloid Treatment in Asymptomatic Alzheimer’s (A4) study produced an extensive dataset on pre-symptomatic Alzheimer’s.

A solution was needed that would provide researchers with easy access to the A4 study’s valuable data and enable secure collaboration without compromising sensitive patient information.

Enhancing data accessibility

Partnering with Global Research Platforms, we embarked on building a platform to revolutionise data access and collaboration.

This innovative approach ensures that researchers globally can collaborate and access the same data while maintaining the highest standards of data privacy and security.

Through agile, user-centered design, we delivered a minimum viable product (MVP) that rapidly evolved based on community feedback, ensuring it met researchers' specific needs. From data scientists to students, the platform provides the tools needed to derive meaningful insights from Alzheimer’s research data in record time.

Driving results through eye level collaboration

Our work with Global Research Platforms has transformed Alzheimer’s research, making it faster, more secure, and more collaborative than ever before. Key outcomes include:

  • Secure collaboration: our platform enables global research collaboration while keeping sensitive health data protected.
  • Increased accessibility: we’ve lowered entry barriers for researchers and students, democratising access to data.

EPND Catalogue

A second use case powered by this platform is the catalogue of the European Network of Neurodegenerative Diseases (EPND catalogue) is advancing neurodegeneration research by offering a comprehensive collection of global studies across the full spectrum of neurodegenerative diseases.

With advanced, efficient search tools for datasets, studies, and bio sample collections, the catalogue simplifies access for researchers to access and utilise critical resources. By breaking down barriers to data access and integrating diverse data from multiple sources, the EPND catalogue sets a new standard in data discovery and collaboration in neurodegenerative disease research.
